5Nothing else compares, a useful tip about fountain pens and calligraphy nibs  Sep 07, 2007
Nothing else compares, a useful tip about fountain pens and calligraphy nibs, you should use a broad nib when using a regular style nib. The ink won't blot because the paper stock has excellent absorbency without dithering.

Calligraphy nibs can be tricky on this paper stock because of 100% cotton surface can be rougher for the narrow calligraphers nib and cause the writing line to skip or dry in the middle of the stroke.

You can avoid this by ensuring your nib is wet, flick the pen against scratch paper without impacting the scratch paper and when you see blots, begin your note. Depending on the pen and how much you need to write, you may have to re-flick the nib again.

Also, note that broader nibs will experience these issues more than narrower such as the medium and fine nibs when using calligraphy style.

In this age of email, handwritten notes are going out of style and make a lasting impression when used, especially when used on Crane paper.
